From 31 March to 1 April 2022, the Swiss Department for Cooperation and Development’s International Cooperation Forum took place in Geneva. The event hosted an array of international guests and experts in sustainability as well as the Swiss Youth and Future Prize “Together We’re Better”. After having been successfully selected from 62 innovative projects, Spring ACT presented ‘Sophia’, among 30 other finalists, at the 2022 Forum.

Over the two days, we had the opportunity to introduce ‘Sophia’ and demonstrate how chatting with her works to interested conference participants at our very own stand. An array of incredible people decided to pay us a visit, including Ambassadors from a multitude of countries, translators willing to volunteer their expertise to programme ‘Sophia in their language, and many other enthusiastic individuals eager to bring ‘Sophia’ to their countries including Brazil, Tunisia, and Indonesia.

Presenting ‘Sophia’ at an event focussed on building a sustainable future was an even greater honour. During the Forum, in fact, innovative solutions to environmental and social challenges were presented and high-level discussions with experts in the field of sustainability and development took place, resulting in the spread of ideas and eagerness to find solutions. All of this with the aim of leaving a better world to future generations.

This makes having received the “Think Global, Act Local” category Award from the President of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, even more special! We take great pride in the recognition that ‘Sophia’, in combating domestic violence, furthers several Sustainable Development Goals, such as Good Health and Wellbeing (Goal 3), Quality Education (Goal 4), Gender Equality (Goal 5), Innovation (Goal 9), Reduce Inequalities (Goal 10), and Justice (Goal 16).

Spring ACT would like to thank the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development as well as the Forum and Prize organisers for allowing us to spread the word about the world’s first chatbot to support survivors of domestic violence within such a stimulating environment. We would also like to thank all those that stopped by to talk to us and that triggered ideas on how to end domestic violence and showed their immense support for our cause. Last but by no means least, we would like to thank the President for the wonderful conversations held with us.

We are proud that our efforts have been recognised in such a prestigious context and are even more motivated to further our cause to end domestic violence: www.sophia.chat
