FIORELLA BUSTAMENTE

1How did you learn about SpringACT? Why did you choose to volunteer for SpringACT?
I learned about Spring ACT through a friend’s experience, Yelena, who is now a volunteer. I was amazed by the compromise and the mission of the organisation. I chose to volunteer for SpringAct because I felt touched about Sophia. I believe that Sophia has a potential growth in Peru (and also in LATAM), because this platform could help a lot of people who experienced domestic abuse. Many people in Peru have correct information access to search for help in these cases, so I think that Sophia is a great resource for them.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I love learning languages and being in touch with other cultures. Since I studied in a Chinese Peruvian High School in Lima, I really enjoyed learning about their costumes and traditions, also about some habits that I incorporated in my life later. Then, in my university, I was a volunteer in Best Buddy, where Peruvian students help exchange students from other countries. There I met a lot of people, who are my friends now and they are all around the world. And this experience inspired me to study abroad in an exchange semester in Germany. This was one of the most wonderful experiences that I’ve had in my life because I have had incredible professional and personal growth. Now, I am learning German as my third language, after English and Spanish.
What are your dreams for the future?
One of my biggest dreams is to generate a positive change in my community. After finishing my career, I realized that I have the capacity and the resources to bring new ideas and solutions to help people to increase their quality of life quality.
