We are extremely proud to have launched Sophia in Peru, and how! We launched at the Ambassador of Switzerland’s official residence, together with 95 guests, including the Minister for Women and Vulnerable Populations in Peru and two Vice Ministers. We heard speeches from the Ambassador, our executive team, and followed by in-depth discussions with our high level panelists Silvia Arispe Bazan (Former Executive Director of Peru’s National Programme to End Domestic Violence); Diana Crousillat (Executive Director of the Fundación OLI); and Rossina Guerrero (Director of Promsex). Sophia is now available in Spanish and the native language Quechua throughout all 24 regions of Peru: www.sophia.chat/es

We would like to give a really big thank you to our Peruvian partners who went above and beyond to make this launch happen and for their continuing support: The Embassy of Switzerland in Peru, Tinkuy and especially their General Manager Cinthya Cuadros for their incredible research, Fundacion Oli for being our local legal representative, Promsex for their expertise enabling the local adaption, IMG for their generosity in printing all the beautiful material you see, Successos Peru for their organisation, and a big thank you to Whiz for their great digital marketing and technical assistance. This dream team together with our very own Gilda Fernandez-Concha, Ndeye Diodio Calloga and our dedicated team of volunteers made this a truly memorable and magical night. What’s next? We are continuing and increasing our collaboration across Peru to make Sophia available with even more local support. This is just the beginning.

Our presence in Peru allows us to continue introducing Sophia and demonstrating how chatting with her works to stakeholders, communities, societal figures, businesses, non-governmental organisations, and the general public. All of this is made possible by the translators’ willingness to volunteer their expertise to the programme, resulting in “Sophia” reaching the wider populace in a more localised context.
The launch of “Sophia” in Peru bridges the information-seeking public’s access to resources. This is a significant step toward establishing a presence in the fight against domestic violence in Latin America, as well as a launch pad for “Sophia” to provide lifesaving information on a global scale in more languages. We continue to spread “Sophia” in Peru, and we are even more motivated to advance our cause; one language and one country at a time across the globe to end domestic violence!
