Queer Sophia will be the chat’s profile picture from June to July. We want to change her so that she takes a clear stand in support of the LGBTQIA+ community while remaining subtle enough to consider survivors in cultures where homosexuality is illegal.

We want to show our strong support for the queer community without alienating survivors all over the world. Spring ACT can be a loud and powerful voice for the voiceless! Sophia, on the other hand, needs to be more subtle in order to reach survivors who are unreachable in the traditional sense.

This is our moment to demonstrate that we are approaching our method of support by being an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community from all angles, including addressing that domestic violence exists in all relationships. The image of Queer Sophia is one that should break barriers across nations and cultures. Sophia is our international brand ambassador in itself, and we must show the world that Spring ACT is here to address the social injustices plaguing our global community.

We understand that in many places, LGBTQIA+ people are persecuted and criminalized by the society in which they live. In addressing the subject, our fellow PRIDE committee member Simon said, “Who could hate the rainbow? Rainbows are so cool! “. However, even mentioning PRIDE can get you in trouble! What do you believe will happen to LGBTQIA+ survivors who are in a domestic violence relationship? Queer Sophia must use imagery to convey the message that no survivor is alone in their quest for and access to lifesaving information.

Queer Sophia is our message for lasting change and our commitment to keeping the spotlight on the LGBTQIA+ struggle. Spring ACT with Queer Sophia is here, and we believe that diversity, inclusion, and equality are attainable if we all work together to raise awareness for all survivors.
